Like its predecessor, the Phantom was built in both Great Britain (Derby) and the USA (Springfield, Mass.). The introduction of the American model was always one year behind the British one. The follow-up always took place two years later. This Phantom was originally called 40/50 New Phantom and was called Phantom I after the introduction of its successor, the Phantom II. An important improvement compared to the Silver Ghost was the new inline-six engine. At the time it was among the cream of the crop.
